The City of Port Clinton, in cooperation with ODOT, replaced a section of the USACE’s east jetty with an 1,100-ft long uniform metal sheet-pile wall capped with an ADA-accessible concrete promenade within Waterworks Park on the east bank of the Portage River. MSG was responsible for the engineering design, NEPA/environmental coordination, oversight of environmental investigations, and waterway permit preparation/submission. The project involved USACE Nationwide Permit #3, Section 108 Permit, and Real Estate Outgrant, along with ODNR Director’s Authorization, Submerged Land Lease and Lake Erie, Coastal Consistency Review. MSG was able to work with the USACE and Ohio EPA to avoid individual waterway permits; saving the project approximately $500,000 in mitigation costs. #WaterfrontWalkway #EngineeringBeyondFunction #SittingOnTheDockOfTheLake #usace #adaaccessible #environmentalengineering #permitting #section108 #MSG #manniksmithgroup #technicalskill #creativespirit
