Painesville’s New Raw Water Intake received an Honorable Mention in the US EPA’s Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) AQUARIUS Recognition Program, a national compendium of projects with exceptional focus on sustainability and protection of public health. The City of Painesville used $17.4 million in DWSRF assistance to replace aging and damaged primary water intake structures with a new intake pipe that extends further into the lake, limiting impacts from turbidity, sand, debris, and algal blooms. The project was completed in September 2020 and ensures the water treatment plant has sufficient capacity to supply drinking water to 32,000 people. MSG is proud to have been a part of this innovative and record-breaking project.
