MSG Receives an ACEC Michigan Honorable Conceptor Award - Robert C. Valade Park

We are proud to announce that we won an ACEC Michigan Engineering Honorable Conceptor Award, and we were runner-up – 2^nd Place – for the Eminent Conceptor Award (highest ACEC award) for our Robert C. Valade Park Project, located on Detroit’s East Riverfront Riverwalk. Thank you to MDOT and the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy for being our special guests at the awards gala! A special thanks goes out to Cliff Elling, who led the design of a complicated and creative structural/geotechnical solution.

The Robert C. Valade Park is the newest destination point along the riverwalk – voted #1 riverwalk in The USA Today’s National Competition in 2021! Project challenges included salvaging and stabilizing severely-deteriorated seawall systems, managing historically-high Great Lakes water levels during construction, and the design of a multi-layered lightweight fill separated with a load distribution slab – all required for long-term stability of the riverwalk and adjacent retrofitted seawall.
