It takes a special person to deliver accurate, critical results day after day. We’ve found that in Janae Washington.
Janae leads the MSG Analytical Lab, located in our Canton, Michigan office. Janae and her team in our accredited asbestos lab, through the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) (Lab Code 600212-0), receives samples from throughout region. Samples are collected by our trained field staff, or shipped in from other consultants. Our team handles bulk material samples for analysis utilizing polarized light microscopy (PLM), as well as air samples for analysis through phase contrast microscopy (PCM). The lab provides clients with detailed analysis results, including both identification and quantification of asbestos-containing materials (ACM).
A Texas native, Janae found her way to Michigan after graduating from IU Indianapolis. Since joining MSG last summer, she’s already made her mark, striking the right balance for maintaining accuracy and achieving team satisfaction: it’s the protocol and the people.
With a consensus-based approach, each sample is independently reviewed by two analysts. Their separate findings must confirm each other in order to move forward. Maintaining rigorous adherence to the standard operating procedures requires focus and dedication. Janae matches these demands with a positive, supportive culture.
Janae takes pride in the lab’s consensus-based approach, as part of our quality management protocol, led by Keegan Mackin, the lab’s Quality Manager. Her role entails supporting Janae with lab management duties, as well as monitoring the labs monthly sample progress and accuracy.
Janae and the MSG Analytical lab staff are proud to play a key role in improving schools, commercial buildings, and neighborhoods. “We’re helping to make our communities better, and our environment safer,” said Janae.
