Future City Competition

Joe Bolzenius, PE, PS, MSG Ohio Roadway and Bridge Leader has been on the Steering Committee of Future City Competition – Ohio Region since 2006. The Future City Competition brings together thousands of middle school students to do what engineers and planners do every day: identify problems, brainstorm ideas, design solutions, test, build, and share results. This year, students were challenged to address climate change in their cities.

This year’s competition was held on January 21 at Eastland Career Center in Columbus, OH. The winner (Batavia Middle School) goes on to the national competition in Washington, DC with a chance at the top prize: $7,500 for the organization’s STEM program plus a trip to U.S. Space Camp in Huntsville, AL.
