Community Amenities - Welton's Gorge Trailhead - Geauga County, Ohio

MSG has been involved in many parks and recreational projects offering public amenities for the end-user incorporating elements such as bike racks, splash pads, benches, picnic tables, and shade structures. MSG provided civil engineering, landscape design, and permitting services for the development of 2.7 acres of the Welton’s Gorge property in Burton, Ohio, including an accessible trailhead equipped with parking, vault-style restroom, boardwalks and overlooks, open-air picnic tables and lighted/sheltered gathering space. MSG also provided sustainable storm water management plans, with an emphasis towards the integration of accessibility and recreational elements within a naturalized environment.

The Welton’s Gorge Preserve is comprised of ±87 acres and contains more than 6,000 linear feet of tributaries to the East Branch of the Cuyahoga River, more than 4,000 linear feet of Class 3 Primary Headwater Habitat, nine wetlands, and a 45-foot gorge exposing Sharon sandstone and Sharon conglomerate formations.
