Water & Wastewater Utilities Engineer


Preferred candidate should have a minimum of a BSCE in Civil Engineering with a focus or experience in water distribution and wastewater design, and be licensed or able to become licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Michigan. A minimum of 6 to 10 years of experience is required. The candidate should be able to work with minimal supervision, and will report directly to the Municipal Team Leader.

Duties include:

• Analyzing data to provide recommendations for systems.
• Perform design of and complete analysis of flow and pressure in water distribution systems.
• Perform design of wastewater collection systems.
• Assist in oversight of wastewater treatment plant operation.
• Manage projects related to water and wastewater design, and develop plans and specifications for bid.
• Assist with bidding, management, and oversight of projects.
• Perform QA/QC reviews of design by other staff engineers.
• Complete field inspection of existing systems and new systems under construction.
• May use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment (CAD) to perform engineering tasks.
• Ability to interact and interface with customers, clients, regulators, contractors, etc. routinely.
• Participate in planning and cost development for projects and system improvements.

Knowledge and ability to use AutoCad and/or Microstation is not required, but preferred. Use of WaterGems software is preferred.

The candidate shall be able to work well in a teaming environment, and also be able to produce desired deliverables individually. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
